Selection of Spanish Athletes for Paris 2024 Olympics: RFETA’s Announcement

The RFETA publishes the selection system for the national recurve bow team for the Paris 2024 Olympics

Once the classification system called by World Archery to determine the participants in the Paris Olympic Games has been completed, and after failing to classify our men’s and women’s teams for said competition, the Royal Spanish Archery Federation will attend the Olympic Games with two athletes, one in men’s recurve bow and one in women’s recurve bow, which will allow us to participate in the mixed team competition.

As indicated in the criteria of the selection system for the national recurve bow team, in the event of failure to classify the teams, the athletes who would occupy the two places available to the RFETA would be designated by the High Competition Commission from among those participants in the Final Olympic Quota Tournamentheld in Antalya previously that was held during the third and last Hyundai World Cup.

The criteria of said selection system allow the designation of athletes by the RFETA, a call that must be ratified by the Spanish Olympic Committee, with the aim of having in the Olympic event those athletes, with greater potential and sporting maturity, who allow us to take our country to the highest positions.

After analyzing not only the results of our athletes during this season, but also many other factors inexorably linked to sporting performance at the highest level, as required by participation in the Olympic Games, the Royal High Competition Commission Spanish Archery Federation has decided that the national team that represents Spain at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be the following:

  • Recurve bow women: Elia Canales Martin
  • Recurve bow men: Pablo Acha González
  • Responsible technician: Elías Cuesta Cobo
  • Physical trainer: Antonio Carmona Gomez

On behalf of the RFETA we want to thank the effort, commitment and work carried out by each and every one of the athletes and technicians who have participated, not only in this season’s selection system, but also in those called up throughout the Olympic cycle. especially to all those who have been called to represent our federation in recent years and, above all, to the athletes who have fought until the end to achieve the desired goal of qualifying the teams. The results of our athletes are the irrefutable argument that, by working in this way, we are getting closer to achieving it.

To all of them, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
