Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a bike) withdraws from the Tour de France

The struggles continue this Visma-Lease a bike season. The Dutch team, which has had a number of falls and injuries since the start of the year (Tour du Pays Basque (Vingegaard), Across Flanders (Van Aert), Critérium du Dauphiné (Van Baarle and Kruijswijk)) now sees one of his lieutenants withdraw, a few days before departure, Saturday June 29.

In poor form at the Critérium du Dauphiné, Sepp Kuss had already retired last week at the beginning of the month. He is also out of the Grande Boucle, his team announced this Tuesday. “Sepp Kuss has not recovered sufficiently from Covid,” indicates the Dutch team. He is replaced in the selection by the Dutchman Bart Lemmen, 28 years old.

Last year, Sepp Kuss was Jonas Vingegaard’s valuable lieutenant in the mountains in the conquest of the yellow jersey before winning the Vuelta. Even less in shape this season after having participated in the three Grand Tours last year, Kuss will undoubtedly be missed at Visma.
