Serres-sur-Arget Students Shine at Multi-Discipline Olympic Event

Previously, Alae had organized introductory sessions in 3 disciplines: pétanque, basketball and badminton with leaders from local clubs. This Friday, the students of Serres-sur-Arget were ready for the grand final. On the program, a morning of training; In the school yard, Sylvie, the teacher and Atsem offered the kindergarten children different relay races.

The “big ones” were divided into 3 groups and had to work in 3 workshops. At the bowling alley, a group worked on throwing boules and precision by aiming at bottles or a pétanque ball under the watchful eye of 4 Serroise pétanque pros including Didier, Jojo, Emile.

In the multipurpose room, a group was perfecting their badminton skills with Marie and learning how to aim and throw shuttlecocks correctly. While the last group was trying to perfect their basketball skills with Aurélien and Théo, they suggested different games to improve movement, passing, not taking more than two steps with the ball or dropping it behind the line, etc.

Around noon, the kindergarten students came to share their picnic with the older children.

At 1:30 p.m., the young participants, supervisors and organizers were warmly thanked, then the volunteer speakers presented the medals to each child to the enthusiastic applause of their classmates.

The afternoon was devoted to the “competition”: each group returned to the workshops, this time, small meetings were organized in each discipline. The children competed respectfully, without any animosity or excess of zeal.

This sunny Olympiad was a great success. The children benefited from flawless organization, caring and demanding speakers, they were able to discover and evolve in disciplines that were often new to them.
