Seth Curry Waived by Charlotte Hornets: What’s Next for Steph’s Brother?

This was just announced by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski. The Charlotte Hornets have decided to part ways with Seth Curry. Not necessarily the end of the adventure for Steph’s brother in Charlotte, the two parties apparently still remain in discussions to find a new agreement.

With one year left on Seth Curry’s contract – worth $4 million annually – the guard was cut. The deadline to secure Seth’s contract year was today at 11 p.m. So there will be no guarantee, Seth Curry was cut before by Jeff Peterson, the general manager of the Hornets. Arriving from Dallas in the deal that brought PJ Washington to Texas, Seth was able to play eight games in the blue jersey of the Hornets. Despite this decision by the Hornets, there would apparently be a possibility of finding an agreement in July between Seth Curry and the Charlotte franchise, during Free Agency.

In a season where he was hampered by injuries, Seth was able to play only 44 games for 5.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1 assist on average. At almost 34 years old, the shooter could possibly find a contract to play an eleventh season in the NBA. There are known defensive limitations, but Seth offers guarantees in terms of skill and it is always practical to have him in a corner when you are attacking. Particularly flourishing with Joel Embiid’s 76ers a few years ago, the presence of a dominant pivot is perfect for this type of player who needs space to function. Let’s hope that Mark Williams will make big progress this summer.

Seth Curry and the Hornets are officially parting ways, but that may not be the end of the story. We will have to wait until Free Agency to find out more about the future of Steph’s younger brother. At almost 34 years old and still without a ring, Seth may still have what it takes for one last challenge in the NBA. To be continued.
