Shin Tae-yong Puji Debut Calvin Verdonk

Jakarta

Coach Indonesian National Team Shin Tae-yong praised the debut Calvin Verdonk for the Garuda Squad. The appearance is said to be okay, quite satisfying.

Verdonk made his debut in the Indonesian National Team when he hosted the Philippines at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium (SU), Jakarta, Tuesday (11/6/2024). Installed as a starter, Verdonk played for 67 minutes until he was finally replaced by Pratama Arhan.

Lapangbola noted, Calvin Verdonk made two key passes, two precise kicks on goal and three recoveries. He is also active as a set-piece taker, especially corner kicks.

“Calvin is very good, this is his debut, and it shouldn’t be easy for him,” said Shin Tae-yong when giving a statement after the match.

“Because there are different times and environments. But still, he performed well as a professional player,” he added.

Calvin Verdonk has been in Indonesia since last week while still undergoing his naturalization process. He and Jens Raven only received approval from the DPR RI last week, and were finally sworn in as Indonesian citizens on June 4 2024.

While waiting for the naturalization process to take place, Shin Tae-yong has included the left back’s name in his squad. And finally Verdonk was declared able to strengthen Indonesia after the transfer of the federation from KNVB to PSSI was approved by FIFA on June 5.
