The Skyliners Frankfurt are working on the squad for the new season in the Basketball Bundesliga. With Christoph Philipps, the Hessians have brought a lot of first division experience into the team.
The Skyliners Frankfurt have signed small forward Christoph Philipps. As the Bundesliga newcomer announced on Wednesday, the 25-year-old winger has signed a two-year contract in the Main metropolis. Philipps is joining Frankfurt from relegated Tigers Tübingen.
Already last summer in contact
“Chris brings a well-rounded package, both physically and technically, which makes him an extremely interesting player for the Bundesliga,” praised coach Denis Wucherer, who would have liked to lure the 2.03-meter-tall German to Frankfurt last season.
“After I had already been in contact with Coach last summer, we had another very good conversation in which he told me about his plans for the coming season. I am very, very happy to be able to be in Frankfurt for the next two years,” said the new signing.
Important Bundesliga experience for the team
Philipps comes to Hesse with a recommendation from a total of 120 Bundesliga games for Ulm, Hamburg and Tübingen. The Munich native also played internationally with Hamburg in the EuroCup. His great experience should do the rather inexperienced Frankfurt team good. Philipps is expected to “play an important role” with the Skyliners, according to Wucherer.
The winger is the second new signing for the Hesse team this summer. On Tuesday, the Skyliners announced the signing of point guard Garai Zeeb from second division champions Karlsruhe. The 27-year-old has also signed a two-year contract in the Main metropolis. Zeeb has also already made more than 100 Bundesliga appearances. Most of these (57) were in the Skyliners jersey.
