Spanish flavor on the second day of the 2024 NBA draft. The San Antonio Spurs have chosen Juan Núñez with the 36th pick. Previously, those from Texas had exchanged their pick 35 for the 36 of the Indiana Pacers, who have used it to select Johnny Furphy. As part of the operation, the Pacers have sent cash considerations rumble in San Antonio.
Having been selected in the second round of the draft, Núñez will not have a guaranteed contract in the NBA, although the Spurs are in full reconstruction, so he could have a place on the Texas team for the 2024-25 season. If so, FC Barcelona’s dream of having his services for the next season would disappear.
Núñez, 20, thus becomes the first Spanish player to be selected in the draft since Usman Garuba and Santi Aldama in 2021.
