Spezia-Napoli clashes 2022: Ultras acquitted of all charges

The facts date back to May 2022, when the last day of the Spezia-Napoli football championship was the scene of violent clashes between the two fans, before, during and after the match, which was also repeatedly suspended during the course.

For these facts, 25 La Spezia ultras and 35 Neapolitan ultras were the recipients of DASPO administrative measures, as well as the subject of a long investigation conducted by the La Spezia Prosecutor’s Office.

On June 27, the Court of La Spezia, represented by Judge Dr. C. Gagliano, issued, pursuant to Article 554ter of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a pre-trial acquittal for 25 ultras from La Spezia and 35 ultras from Naples for not having committed the crime, considering the evidence gathered during the investigation phase insufficient to be able to formulate a reasonable prediction of conviction.

In this way, all the charges set by the Public Prosecutor’s Office were dropped: aggravated brawl, throwing of dangerous material, invasion of the field, misrepresentation and resistance to a public official.

The Judge therefore fully shared the view offered by the defense of the defendants from La Spezia, represented by Lawyer Massimo Lombardi, together with his colleague Lawyer Filippo Vergassola.
