Stefano De Simoni beats the valid no. 700 in his career

San Marino slips in match one at home against Big Mat Grosseto, but then redeems itself with two clear victories that lift it alone to the top of the Group A standings with 17 wins and 7 defeats. UnipolSai Bologna is one point behind (16-8), but they left two matches at the Jannella, game one and game three, against the hosts New Energy Grosseto. Finally, Parma Clima (record 15-9) trailed by a game, scoring a nice hat-trick against tough Hotsand Macerata (fourth in the standings) and celebrating Stefano De Simoni’s 700th hit in charge. This is the summary of the last competitive round of group A which continues to offer interesting challenges and unexpected surprises.
SAN MARINO vs BIG MAT GROSSETO – The Titans went down 1-5 in the opening match of the home triptych with Bsc Grosseto. Leading after three innings, the team suffered a comeback from the guests, who scored five points in the central part of the match and ended up beating the Serravalle stadium. Winning pitcher Palumbo, loser Pedrol. 10 valid to 3 for the Bsc.
San Marino bounces back in style, signing two victories over BSC Grosseto on Saturday in Serravalle (11-7; 11-5) and flying to the solitary first place at the top of the table. Pascoli and Kourtis are the winners of the two games, but this time the batters take the stage with home runs. That’s five homers in just a few hours. One for Angulo, Alvarez and Celli. Two for Tromp and one of them is a grand slam.
PARMA CLIMA vs HOTSAND MACERATA – The first match of the weekend between the ducals and the Marches ended with a hard-fought victory for Parma, winning with the result of 5-4 after an exciting series of overtaking and counter-overtaking. The three points scored in the sixth inning were decisive for Parma Clima’s victory thanks to hits from Desimoni, Ascanio, Flisi and Angioi. The ducals scored eleven hits (four from the Marches): the best in the box were Desimoni (2 out of 3), Ascanio (2 out of 3), Angioi (2 out of 4) and Battioni (2 out of 4). The winning pitcher was Andres Perez, salvation for Claudio Scotti, who entered the field to score the last out of the match.
Parma Clima also prevailed in the second match of the triptych with Macerata, overcoming the Marche team with a final score of 6-2. The superiority of Meo Saccardi’s boys was clear as they scored eight hits against their opponents’ four. Matteo Bocchi was the winning pitcher with Claudio Scotti saving. On the day in which captain Stefano Desimoni made his 700th hit in Serie A, Noel Gonzalez’s bat shone, author of two doubles with two points batted home.
The third match of the weekend is also in favor of the hosts Parma who obtained their second sweep of the season by defeating Macerata. This evening’s match ended with a score of 5 to 4 at the end of seven exciting rounds which saw the two teams chasing each other and overtaking each other several times. The Ducali recovered a 3-1 deficit, took a 5-3 lead in the middle rounds and then resisted the final assault of the Marche players. Winning pitcher Raymond Figueredo, salvation for Manuel Santana. In the batter’s box, a very positive evening for Ascanio (3 of 3), Angioi (3 of 4), Noel Gonzalez (2 of 3) and Encarnacion (2 of 4). Doubles for Angioi, Encarnacion, Desimoni and Luis Gonzalez.
UNIPOLSAI BOLOGNA vs NEW ENERGY GROSSETO – UnipolSai Fortitudo comes out defeated in the first match against BBC Grosseto. Negative evening for the blue and whites who were unable to worry the home team’s defense and were defeated at the Jannella 2-0. Manager Frignani chooses to entrust the first ball to Marc Civit with Liberatore behind the plate. The first two rounds are a total domination of the two pitchers with Luis Gonzalez on one side and Civit on the other, who concede just one base per ball each to the opposing attacks. At the third the game unblocks: Vaglio, after obtaining four balls, reaches third on a single by Herrera; Barcelan appears in the box and finds the RBI in the center for the 1-0 on the scoreboard. In the following second half, Fortitudo finds the only valid hit of its evening with the single to the center by Filippo Agretti who, however, is unable to advance on the bases, due to the double defensive play put in place by Grosseto. In the bottom of the fourth inning, thanks to hits from Garcia and Bruno and a sacrifice fly from Chelli, New Energy doubled the score to 2-0. A UnipolSai that is spent and without energy can never find a reaction; in the last two rounds he goes up the mountain for Grosseto Hernandez, who completes his teammate’s work as best as possible and gives nothing to the white and blue attack. It ends 2-0 for the hosts.
In the other two matches, reaction of the Bolognese who beat New Energy 7-4 in match two but had to lower their guard again in match three (6-4).
