After trying different sports, Thibault turned to a career as an amateur footballer. From now on, Vitinha is a full-fledged Genoa player. Initially loaned by OM in Italy, the Portuguese was transferred permanently. This therefore officially marks the end of his adventure in Marseille. On the Canebière, Viitnha was not very successful. It must be said that by joining OM from Braga, the striker would not have become the happiest player. Explanations.

Before January 2023, date of his transfer to OM, Vitinha had only known Braga. Trained within the Portuguese club, the 24-year-old striker was in his cocoon, notably having his family by his side. But to join Marseille as part of its €32M transfer, Vitinha therefore had to leave his loved ones. A separation which was obviously not easy to live with for the now ex-player of theABOUTpermanently transferred to Genoa this Friday.

A difficult separation for Vitinha

It is L’Equipe which makes this confidence about the complicated moments experienced by Vitinha at theABOUT given the absence of his family by his side. Thus, the sports daily says that the Portuguese cried very often when thinking of his loved ones.

In an interview with Canal Football Club, Vitinha had explained how difficult the separation from his family had been when leaving Braga : “Yes it was difficult. I am very attached to my family and friends. And I know it’s to grow, but going away from them is what hurt me the most. It’s difficult, it’s still the case today, but it’s so that I succeed. It’s for my own good, for the good of my family.”

Despite these difficult times experienced at Marseille, Vitinha made a beautiful farewell to announce his departure from theABOUT. On his social networks, the Portuguese posted: “Dear supporters of Olympique de Marseille, it is time to say goodbye. It was an honor to wear this historic jersey and give my best for the club. Even if everything didn’t go as I had dreamed, I leave with valuable learnings and unforgettable memories. The passion you show for the club is inspiring and has always made me want to give my all on the pitch. A part of me will always stay in Marseille. Here I grew as a player and as a person. To OM, to my teammates, to the technical staff and to all those who supported me, I send you my sincere thanks. You have been tireless, even in difficult times. I know that the club will continue to fight for great achievements, with your unconditional support. I will always be in the front row cheering you on. An eternal goodbye, OM. You are in my heart.
