STVV Faces Exodus as Rein Van Helden Considers Departure

It threatens to become a total exodus at STVV. After coach Thorsten Fink and strongmen Jarne Steuckers and Matte Smets, Rein Van Helden is now also threatening to leave the club, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Van Helden is a youth product of STVV and after a loan at the Dutch MVV he made a complete breakthrough at the Canaries last season. This has not gone unnoticed by some Jupiler Pro League clubs. Cercle Brugge, KAA Gent and KRC-Genk are reportedly competing for the defender.

Fink extra asset

Fink was appointed as the replacement for Wouter Vrancken, who left for KAA Gent, and the coach wants to make full use of his STVV asset. The coach was loved by the supporters at the Canaries, but now they have already stolen a player with Jarne Steuckers and Matte Smets is also on the way.

In addition to the talented duo, Fink also wants to steal Van Helden. But there are several hijackers on the coast. The KAA Gent of ex-coach Vrancken is also beckoning and Cercle Brugge also wants to strengthen itself with the central defender. Groen-Zwart had a strong season and will play European football next season.

Belgian transfer battle

Van Helden is a 21-year-old Belgian youth international with a market value of 2.5 million euros. He still has a contract until June 2025. Last season he played a total of 37 games and was a regular starter under Fink. STVV has already put a new contract on the table for Van Helden, but another Belgian transfer battle seems to be on the way.
