Eichenzell (pm/cb) – The Hessian individual championship for the U15 age group and the Hessian selection tournament for the U13 in judo took place last weekend. The 1st Fulda Judo Club was delighted to win a total of four medals and three placings. Max Schlaudraff won the bronze medal in the U15 and thus qualified for the Southwest German Championship.

Over 250 children from 57 Hessian clubs met last Saturday in the district sports hall in Eichenzell to determine the Hessian champions in the U15 age group and to fight for a medal place in the U13 selection tournament under the watchful eye of regional coach Frank Hölperl. The event was hosted for the first time by the 1st Fuldaer JC, who would like to thank everyone for their excellent support and help. The day started with the U15 age group. Max Schlaudraff competed in the -60 kilogram weight class for the first time. After a win against Finian Scharf (Eintracht Frankfurt), he took an excellent second place in his pool. In the semi-finals he was defeated by the eventual Hessian champion Edem Kurtumerov (Judo Club Wiesbaden) and was delighted to win the bronze medal and qualify for the Southwest German Championships at the end of the month in Wallerfangen (Saarland). Ben Hartmann, who competed in the highly competitive -43 kilogram weight class, also put up a very good fight. After an opening victory, he had to admit defeat in the second round to Linus Lenk (Kim-Chi Wiesbaden), who later came third. In the consolation round, he moved into the small final for third place after two wins against Leopold Kuchenbrod (JC Peterberg) and Sinan Bayram (SV Blau Gelb Darmstadt). Here he was unable to prevail against Phillip Goldschmidt (Judo Club Wiesbaden) and narrowly missed the podium with fifth place. Lea Rudolphi (-52 kilograms) and Maximilian Michel (-60 kilograms) were not able to place.

In the afternoon, the Hessian selection tournament for the U13 age group took place. Marharyta Sharova (-44 kilograms) once again attracted attention, storming through the competition list with victories against Emma Harffert (JC Hünfelden), Sarah Wiechert (1. Judoverein Langen) and teammate Teresa Peterek. She only had to admit defeat to the winner Sarah Ziani (TSV Pfungstadt) that day and was able to celebrate a well-deserved silver medal. Urata Troni (-30 kilograms) and Adrian Schenkel (+55 kilograms) secured a bronze medal. Lisa Peterek (-44 kilograms) contributed another fifth place and Julian Fabel (-40 kilograms) contributed a seventh place to Fulda’s success. Vitalina Makovska (-40 kilograms), Julius Ruppel (-50 kilograms), Timo Teuber (-46 kilograms) and Jan Hartmann (-37 kilograms) did not place in this highly competitive competition.

This was followed by the first mixed team championship, which the Hessian Judo Association would like to establish in the future. A team had to fill a total of five female and five male weight classes with at least ten judokas. A great event for the young athletes, who are usually more of “lone fighters”. There was a great atmosphere in the hall and among the teams. The first fight of this format in the U13 age group between HTG Bad Homburg and the fighting community SKV Gruben / 1. Fuldaer Judo-Club was ultimately won by the strong HTG team.

The following people were involved in the fighting community: Ina Neuenschwander, Thea Link, Frieda Breul, Urata Troni, Marharyta Sharova, Simon David, Julius Ruppel, Jan Hartmann, Julius Fabel, Leo Schlaudraff, Adrian Schenkel.
