For many athletes, from Cesena and beyond, the pause period of the championships corresponds to the delicious opportunity to work on their weak points, with the aim of presenting themselves again in front of the coach with a different approach. This is the spirit with which ‘Livio Neri’ has also started a ‘specialization school’ this year aimed at all those interested in intensive training dedicated to the fundamentals of basketball.
“The Academy is an activity that is now well established – comments President Carlo Venturi – and which athletes of all ages turn to, most of them our members. The process begins with a series of physical tests based on which we form the groups, which are small and work under the same control of the technical staff. Dribbling, passing, shooting: every aspect of the game ends up under the lens with the intent of improving it”. It’s like when you decide to go on a diet: good intentions count a lot, but above all you need to persevere: for the first concrete results you need at least a couple of weeks of constant and motivated commitment.
“The added value – continues Venturi – is linked to the visits of special guests who come to visit us cyclically. Wanting to name a few, I mention the ‘sacred monster’ of athletic trainers Francesco Guzzolin, the Serie A coach Gabriele Ceccarelli (who was very close to Livio) or Christopher Ward, historical friend of Kobe Bryant”. However, it is not just this, because for years in the summer months the Mini Palazzetto in front of Carisport, which during the rest of the season is the ‘home’ of 5-a-side football and volleyball, has transformed into a point of reference for many athletes, perhaps having passed through Cesena in their competitive past, who choose the parquet of our house to train independently. “Many Serie B players who wore the Tigers shirt during the team’s time in Cesena have remained fond of this place and come to visit us. A few years ago we also purchased a very popular ‘ball shooter’, capable of increasing the productivity of training , optimizing shooting sessions. It’s nice to see so many souls of the same sport coming together, practicing it in different ways, but with the same passion.”
