Summer Fun for Kids: Decize Offers Free Activities and Olympic Challenge

Karate, rugby, musical awakening, circus… Many free activities are planned from July 8 to August 28 for 5-18 year olds as part of the Loisirs-Jeunes operation, in Decize. For this edition, an Olympic challenge will also be offered.

The free activities offered in Decize to 5-18 year olds as part of the Loisirs-Jeunes operation are well attended each summer, particularly in certain disciplines such as canoeing or judo.

A leisure canoeing section launched at the Decize/Saint-Léger club

In order to encourage young people to participate even more this summer (from July 8 to August 28), the Municipal Sports Office (OMS) of Decize and the sports educator, Gilles Saunier, have decided to organize a small challenge, as explained by Arnaud Dudragne, president of the WHO and deputy for sport.

We will issue participants with an Olympic passport. When they participate in an Olympic Games discipline, they will have to have it stamped. At the end of summer, those with the most stamps will receive a small gift.

Those who do not wish to participate in this challenge can, of course, take part in these activities.

The main highlight of the summer, the setting up of a climbing wall for two days, July 29 and 30, near the city stadium. “An initiation will be organized as part of Loisirs-Jeunes, but this wall will be self-service. Anyone who wishes will be able to test it. This event will, in a way, replace the Sports Caravan. We made this choice this year in order to to further vary the program.”

Sports, music, drawing…

This year again, many associations or structures have decided to join in this operation. In terms of the program, we will find the great classics such as swimming, badminton or pétanque, but also disciplines less present at the Youth Leisure level, such as athletics or gymnastics. Many less traditional activities, such as Basque pelota, the motor skills course, the circus, etc. are also on the menu.

Culture and other leisure activities will not be left out with board games, drawing, musical awareness and several workshops set up at the media library (show reading and hologram). Several outings, by bike, mountain bike, on foot or focused on cleaning up nature, will complete the summer program. Enough to stay in Olympic shape!
