The Italian national team is a big disappointment for its fans

Remo Freiler and Ruben Vargas scored for Switzerland.

In the 24th minute of the game, the Swiss had a good chance to take the lead, but Brill Embolo’s shot was successfully saved by Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. A little more than ten minutes later, the Italians managed to stop Switzerland’s counterattack with a foul, and Nicolo Barella received a yellow card for pushing the opponent in the back.

Towards the end of the first half, in the 37th minute, Switzerland was put in the lead by Freiler, who sent it into Italy’s goal after a pass from Vargas. The Swiss needed just a minute to double their lead early in the second half when Michel Ebischer played Vargas into the penalty area, who beat the Italian keeper with a shot into the top corner.

In the continuation, in the 74th minute, Italy could recover one goal, but Gianluca Scamack hit the post. In the final minutes of regular time, the Italians controlled the ball more, but the Swiss stopped all the opponents’ attempts to score a goal.

Switzerland beat Hungary 3-1 in Group A and drew 1-1 with Scotland and Germany, also finishing in second place. Italy, on the other hand, beat Albania 2-1 in Group B games, lost 0-1 to Spain and played 1-1 with Croatia, taking second place in the group.

In the fourth minute, after a corner kick, Niko Schlotterback put the ball into the goal, but a violation of the rules was found against the Danish national team player, so the score remained 0:0. A couple of minutes later, Kasper Schmeichel saved the Danes from going into the chase after Joshua Kimmich’s shot from distance.

In the following, Schmeichel prevented the Germans from scoring a couple more times by stopping their shots.

With ten minutes left in the first half, the match was stopped due to rain. After about 20 minutes, the players returned to the field and after a five-minute warm-up, they continued the game from the 35th minute. Even after the break, Schmeichel continued to neutralize the dangerous shots of the German national team players. The opponent’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also played excellently, stopping the Danish counterattack in the last minute of the first half, preventing Rasmus Hejlund from using a solo pass against him.

In the fourth minute of the second half, Joakim Andersen put the ball into the goal, but this goal was also canceled due to a backside situation. A little later, Andersen played with his hand in the penalty area and a penalty kick was awarded to the Danish team’s goal. Havertz sent the ball into the lower right corner of the goal and in the 53rd minute made it 1:0 for the German national team.

A few minutes later, Havertz handled the ball technically and ran alone towards Schmeichel, sending the ball just wide of the post. In the 69th minute, after Schlotterbeck’s pass across the field, Musiala ran away from the opposing defenders and hit the ball into the net – 2:0.

At the beginning of the compensation time, Florians Vircs also put the ball in the goal, but in this episode too, the back was recorded. In the last minutes, Schmeichel stood out with another save.

Germany will meet either Spain or Georgia in the quarterfinals.

England and Slovakia and Spain and Georgia will meet in the round of 16 matches on June 30, France and Belgium and Portugal and Slovenia on July 1 and Romania and the Netherlands and Austria and Turkey on July 2.

24 national teams, divided into six subgroups, participate in the final tournament of the European Championship. The winners of the first two places in each subgroup and the four best national teams that finished in third place enter the elimination tournament.

The 2024 European Championship will be held in ten German cities from June 14 to July 14. The new European champion will be determined at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
