Switzerland takes out Italy, title holder, and advances to the quarter-finals

Switzerland qualified for the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 by eliminating Italy (2-0), the reigning European champion, at the end of a perfectly controlled match by the Swiss this Saturday, June 29 in Berlin. The Nati, who reached the quarter-finals of the European Championship for the second time in a row, took the lead thanks to Remo Freuler (37th) then put themselves out of harm’s way with a splendid strike from Ruben Vargas (46th). The Swiss will face the winner of the England-Slovakia match in the next round, scheduled for July 6 in Düsseldorf.
