After the appointment of head coach Janis Gailitis, the playmaker for the MBC basketball team has also been confirmed. In addition, a familiar face will be joining as a substitute.
Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC continues to rely on playmaker Charles Callison. The 29-year-old American has extended his contract with the Weissenfels team for another season. The MBC announced this on Wednesday (June 5, 2024).
“The extension of Charles for a third season is a huge step for Syntainics MBC to build a strong new squad. For me, Charles is one of the ten best players in the league in his position and by signing again early, he is showing his commitment to our club,” said MBC Managing Director Martin Geissler.
Kovacevic returns to the “Wolf’s Den”
Geissler also secured the position with Aleksa Kovacevic, who is moving from Serbian first division club KK Sloga Kraljevo to the Bundesliga 13th-placed team. MBC fans still remember the 22-year-old well from the 2022/2023 season.
At that time, the Serb was still playing in the ProB with a dual license for cooperation partner BSW Sixers. In the last game of the previous season against Crailsheim, he came on as a replacement for the injured Callison and contributed significantly to the 79:69 home victory and the associated relegation with eleven points and four assists. At the beginning of the week, the MBC had already hired a new head coach in the Latvian Janis Gailitis.
