These are the words of the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, at the Foro Italico for the second day of the sixteenth edition of Kim e Liù, the taekwondo tournament for young athletes aged 6 to 11. “We are in a wonderful place where past, present and future come together. There is the Kim and Liù, which is brilliant and creative, but also the project dedicated to the Over 65s: everything placed in a perfect context”, added Abodi.
The Nicola Pietrangeli stadium hosted the performance of the Ciao Team, Fita’s freestyle taekwondo demonstration team, invited by the IOC to perform in Paris 2024 during the days dedicated to taekwondo competitions, with six performances scheduled. “A show within a show – said Abodi -, with this acrobatic taekwondo that I didn’t know and didn’t expect. Physicality combined with musicality and precision: another horizon that will help the Federation to be even better known. Taekwondo seemed for a few and instead it is becoming for many.”
The day of competitions saw young athletes compete on the competition squares, ready to embark on their journey towards the Olympic dream. But not only that: because the performance of the over 65 athletes of the federal project “Intergenerational Taekwondo” took place on the Capitoline tatamis.
