Taiwanese Americans Come Together for Annual Baseball Event “Friend of Taiwan Baseball Day”

This year, three chambers of commerce joined dozens of Taiwanese American communities to invite Taiwanese people in the United States to gather at Citi Field at 4 pm on August 17 to watch the game between the New York Mets and the Miami Marlins.

Taiwanese love baseball, and Taiwanese living in the United States often take this opportunity to get together and show their love for Taiwan and the United States through baseball in this fair and free land of the United States. This year, Taiwanese Americans are shining in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), so the theme of this year’s gathering is “AI (Love) Taiwan”.

Lin Qingfu, president of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in New York, said that the mission of the Chamber of Commerce is to promote the commercial development of bilateral relations between the United States and Taiwan and give back to the society. In addition to the exciting football games, this year the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and the New York Taiwan Young Entrepreneurs Association specially promoted Taiwan’s food culture and prepared 1,400 limited edition Taiwan food culture handbags. In addition, all ticket buyers can participate in the lottery for round-trip economy class tickets from New York to Taipei donated by EVA Air and China Airlines.

“This year we have cooperated with many Taiwanese snack merchants, allowing ticket buyers to purchase Taiwanese snacks at a premium, including Old Farmer Beef Jerky, A-Zhong Braised Food, Fumian Taiwanese Cuisine and IRIS Taiwanese Bread. We hope to satisfy fans’ longing for their hometown delicacies. Tickets will be available to community groups first, and then to the general public online. The organizer will distribute tickets, shopping bags and selected Taiwan packages at the Overseas Chinese Education Center on August 10 and at the atrium of Tangram on August 17.
