To the sound of the Cathedral bells and fireworks this morning Teggiano woke up in a festive atmosphere in honor of the Patron Saint, San Cono.
A heartfelt celebration on June 3rd, which every year involves hundreds of faithful who gather in the historic center to pay homage to the protector of the city and the Diocese of Teggiano – Policastro.
For the occasion, as usual, a Holy Mass was celebrated in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, officiated by the Bishop, HE Monsignor Antonio De Luca, and in which civil and military authorities and the municipal administration of Teggiano also participated. Afterwards the faithful accompanied the Patron Saint in procession through the streets of the city.
At the same time, San Cono is also celebrated in other cities around the world where he is venerated, as in Uruguay, Argentina it’s at Brooklyn, where the Club that bears his name was founded 50 years ago. In fact, the cult of him was spread by the people of Teggiano who emigrated last century and who kept the connection with their native land alive also through religion.
The celebrations will also continue this evening with the Video mapping in the square, the concert and the exciting fireworks display in Piazza Portello which will bring the celebrations to an end at midnight.
