Tennis: Alexander Zverev reaches French Open final for first time

Tennis professional Alexander Zverev has reached the final of the French Open in Paris for the first time. The Hamburg native beat Norwegian Casper Ruud 2:6, 6:2, 6:4, 6:2 and will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday in the second Grand Slam final of his career.

Alcaraz won the match against Jannik Sinner 2:6, 6:3, 3:6, 6:4, 6:3. He is also in the final of Roland Garros for the first time.

Zverev used his first match point after 2 hours and 35 minutes. For the Olympic champion, it is the second Grand Slam final overall; in 2020, he narrowly missed the big coup against Austrian Dominic Thiem at the US Open. At the French Open, he is only the second German player after Michael Stich 28 years ago to fight for the Coupe des Mousquetaires in the final duel.
