Tesla’s Troubled Cybertruck: Fourth Recall Raises Concerns About Safety

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationthis is the fourth time that Tesla has recalled 2024 Cybertruck models.

The Cybertruck, the security model par excellence?

All scrap metal and gleaming bodywork, Tesla’s Cybertruck looks more like a tank than the elegant cars and fine curves to which the car manufacturer had accustomed us.

According to the official Tesla website, the robustness and solidity of the Cyber Truck are praised as its main features. Built with a “ultra-strong stainless steel exoskeleton“, Tesla’s armored car would be able to resist”to the impact of a baseball thrown at 112 km/h or class 4 hailstones”.

Additionally, the car has a towing capacity of 4,990 kg, “the weight of an African elephant”… all this in an interior where technology is at the service of user comfort (exceptional audio quality, two large touch screens located at the front and rear of the vehicle, etc.). Comfort, quality and solidity that come at a price. According to Auto Journal, you need to budget between €70,000 and €91,700 to get such a vehicle.

Recall for faulty wipers and trunk problem

With such details, it would be legitimate to expect that the Cybertruck would be in impeccable condition… yet it is one of the Tesla ranges that has had the most defective models.

As relayed by The Guardian, Tesla explained in a press release on Tuesday that 11,688 Cybertrucks from the year 2024 had been recalled due to a failure of the front windshield wiper motor controller and excessive electrical current, which which can potentially be dangerous in the event of rain.

Tesla also recalled 11,383 Cybertrucks because the trunk trim sail application may be loose. If the latter falls, this could cause danger for other road users. The recall report is public.

More than 3,500 vehicles recalled for pedal problems

Remember: in 2024, 3,878 Cybertrucks built between November 13, 2023 and April 4, 2024 were recalled due to a defect in the metal plate of the accelerator pedal.

This failure was widely reported by vehicle owners, who explained that the accelerator pedal pad was slipping and lodged in the carpet in front of it, potentially blocking the pedal. Fortunately, according to the official recall report, no accidents have been reported due to this defect.
