The real mountain tests are yet to come, but the Danish Tour de France champion of the last two years, Jonas Vingegaard, showed that he is back. Since April, after a dangerous fall in the race around the Basque Country, he has not competed and has been recovering from pneumothorax, contusion of the lungs and fractures. A big question mark hung over the form of the 27-year-old defender, but the first hilly tests showed that Vingegaard will once again trample his biggest rival, Tadej Pogačar.
