The extinction of civil and family courts in Mexico City is worrying: BMA – El Sol de México

The Mexican Bar Association, AC, (BMA), expressed this morning its concern about the extinction of 24 civil courts and 11 family courts in the Mexican capital, since it will prolong procedural times for people who already have a matter in course in court.

“It is feared that procedural times will be prolonged too much, given the increase in work in the receiving courts, of the files coming from the courts that are extinguished,” says the Bar in a statement published this morning.

On June 12, the Judiciary Council of Mexico City approved the extinction of more than 24 civil courts and 11 family courts, “in order to achieve a balance in those that will continue in operation and in favor of an adequate administration of justice.” , says the capital’s Judiciary in a report.

“To the detriment of the justifiable and especially of children and adolescents and other vulnerable groups involved,” highlights the statement from the Mexican Bar Association.

The extinction process, determined by the Judicial Council of the capital, will be carried out in the period from June 17 to November 29, 2024.
