The French selected highest in the history of the NBA draft

Mickaël Piétrus was chosen by the Golden State Warriors, 11th overall in the 2003 draft. The seasons in the San Francisco Bay Area were up and down for the Frenchman, alternating between good and bad. Traded to Orlando, he became a regular in the infirmary, but the end of the season, where the team reached the finals, allowed him to demonstrate his talent. “Air France”, sent on a defensive mission on Kobe Bryant, then acquired the role of the team’s first defender. After a lackluster stint at the Suns, Piétrus tried the Celtics experience, coming off the bench this time, before leaving for his last whirlwind adventure in Toronto. After ten years in the Big League, he said goodbye to the American courts in 2013.
