The Future of Klay Thompson: Will He Join the Lakers or the Mavericks?

The last great team the NBA has seen is beginning to break down. Almost everyone assumes that Klay Thompson will not continue with the Golden State Warriors next season, putting an end to thirteen seasons full of triples, records, memorable moments and four rings.

The big question now is where Klay will play – and all roads lead to the Lakers. Thompson was born in Los Angeles, so a return home at 34 makes perfect sense. Plus, LeBron seems willing to give up some of his salary, which could go towards a deal with his long-time rival.

The Mavericks are also in the mix. The last finalists have been the most talked about to get Klay and they have everything that could interest the player: ring options and salary space thanks to the departure of Tim Hardway Jr.

Injuries are a thing of the past and despite being in the twilight of his career, Klay played in 77 games last season (63 as a starter) with averages of 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 29.7 minutes.
