The Stuttgart Reds are not rewarded for their committed comeback and lose 7:9 to the Guggenberger Legionnaires from Regensburg.

After five innings, they already looked like sure winners. After Terrell Joyce hit an RBI double to score the first run for the home team in the first inning, the Upper Palatinate team extended their lead by three more runs in the third inning. Terrell Joyce contributed a solo home run. In the fifth inning, the Legionnaires pulled away with a 5-run rally that seemed unassailable. This time, Nino Sacasa was able to get the ball out of the ballpark.

At the same time, Regensburg’s man on the mound, Pablo Guillen, had the Reds’ batters well under control. He had stepped in for Joe Cedano de Leon, who was out at short notice due to injury. It was only after six innings that the Reds managed their first run. Moritz Köhler was successful with an RBI single.

Then Aljo Sujak took over for Guillen on the mound. And this gave the Stuttgart offense new momentum. The Reds were then able to load the bases and Austin Bull shortened the score to six runs with a double. And when Fabian Beck scored Stuttgart’s fourth run after a wild pitch from Sujak, Regensburg manager Martin Helmig reacted again and brought in a new pitcher, Nick Miceli. But he couldn’t stop the Reds at first either. Shortly afterwards, Moritz van Bergen shortened the score to two runs with a 2-run homer.

Afterwards, however, Miceli came into the game better and was able to secure the game for the Legionnaires. Pablo Guillen secured the win in six innings on the mound. Stuttgart’s Kevin Riello Quiroga (4 1/3IP, 6H, 7R, 5ER, 2BB, 2K) took the loss.
