Giant rings were hung on the Eiffel Tower during the night from Thursday to Friday.
Friday morning, Parisians discovered a slightly different Eiffel Tower. Indeed, during the night from Thursday to Friday, the Olympic rings were hung between the first and second floors of the Iron Lady. It is a tradition to install these rings on significant monuments such as the Tower Bridge in London in 2012 or the Copacabana in Rio in 2016.
The rings face the Trocadéro because it is here that the Champions Park will be located, the place to celebrate the day’s medalists during the Olympiad, but also the place where the opening ceremony will end on July 26. Note that the Olympic rings are also present at Charles de Gaulle airport but also at Paris La Défense Arena.
