Thierry Dion Leads Bisons Desjardins de Saint-Eustache to Strong Start in LBJÉQ 2024 Season

Playoff champions in 2021, regular season champions in 2022 and division champions in 2023, the Bisons Desjardins de Saint-Eustache, of the Quebec Junior Elite Baseball League (LBJÉQ), are having an excellent 2024 season until now, they are in first place in the general classification with a record of 15-4 in 19 games.

This 2024 season, which took off on May 18, got off to a flying start for the training of Luc Desgroseilliers, elected head coach of the year in 2023 following a vote by his peers, with a series of nine victories. The Eustace team did not, in fact, experience defeat throughout the month of May, accumulating no less than 74 points, compared to 27 during this happy sequence.

In June, the Bisons added six more victories to their record, but also conceded four defeats. The latter began this month of June with a 2-4 record, but have since regained momentum by winning their four most recent matches, all played in Saint-Eustache.

This weekend, the Bisons will have another doubleheader to play against the Coaticook Rocket, this Saturday, June 22, at the beginning and end of the afternoon, this time at the home of the Estrie team.

Then, the 13 LBJÉQ teams, which bring together players aged between 18 and 22, will participate, from June 27 to 30, in the first edition of the BFL Canada tournament which will bring together, in total, 16 teams divided into four divisions and which will take place, to begin with, on four different sites, namely in Charlesbourg, Longueuil, LaSalle and Montreal.

The Bisons will be part of the same division as the Dukes of Longueuil, the Diamants de Québec and the Baseball Academy of Canada (ABC). In the case of the Bisons, the matches in this first phase will all take place in Longueuil. If it reaches the semi-finals, the Eustace team will then travel to Charlesbourg where the final of this tournament as well as the home run competition will also be played on Sunday June 30.
