Thirteen Czech players were drafted by NHL clubs, three including Jiříček were acquired by St. Louis

NHL clubs drafted a total of thirteen Czech hockey players this year, equaling the balance from 2005.

After being selected 16th overall on Friday by St. Louis Pilsen defender Adam Jiříček, twelve of his compatriots won today in the next six rounds.

Defender Dominik Badinka, who was selected by Carolina as the 34th overall player at the beginning of the 2nd round, was the first to succeed.

The 18-year-old Chomutova protege has so far represented the Czech Republic at major events only at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and from 2022 he will be active in Northern Europe.

First in Jokerit Helsinki and the last season in Malmö, for which he also played in the highest Swedish senior competition.

The rights to three Czech players were acquired by St. Louis, whose representatives selected forwards Ondřej Kos and Adam Becher in the 3rd round.

The Blues acquired defenseman Lukas Fischer, the son of Czech Stanley Cup winner and 2005 world champion Jiří Fischer, in the 2nd round as the 56th overall player.

The 17-year-old defender has both Czech and American citizenship, but he can currently only represent the USA.

Adam Jecho, Jakub Milota, Miroslav Holinka, Aleš Čech, Maxmilian Curran, Vojtěch Hradec, Matyáš Melovský, Petr Sikora and Jakub Fibigr also took the next step towards establishing themselves in the NHL. Somewhat unexpectedly, the name of the 20-year-old Czech, whom Utah decided to draft, was mentioned in the draft.

Contrary to predictions, Liberec defender Tomáš Galvas or goalkeeper Lukáš Matěcha did not appear.
