Toulouse-UBB (59-3): historic, the Toulousains set a new record in the Top 14 final

A slap. Monumental. Winner of a one-sided Top 14 final this Friday against Union Bordeaux-Bègles, Stade Toulouse established a new record. In addition to his 23rd title, which allows him to widen the gap at the top of the French Championship rankings ahead of Stade Français, he established the highest score in the final (59-3).

After a great start to the season, and a first try by Antoine Dupont in force, the Toulousains rolled out. Peato Mauvaka followed up with a goal in the corner, before the captain of the XV of France distinguished himself with a magnificent individual action concluded to the right of the posts. In the second half, the Red and Black struggled to break the Bordeaux lock, until Thomas Ramos concluded a new collective action (64th).

Julien Marchand continued with a superb carried ball (68th), before Blair Kinghorn added an additional try. Thomas Ramos then scored twice in the 74th minute, while David Ainu’u and Ange Capuozzo set the final score (59-3).

Before these 44 points difference, the record dates back to the year 1900, when the Racing club of France dominated the Stade Bordeaux with a score of 37-3. More recently, Stade Français beat USA Perpignan (34-7) in 1998, and Olympic Biarritz knocked out Stade Toulouse in 2006 (40-13).
