8th Avenue Chinese (Special Topic) Homeless people were beaten
According to Sing Tao Daily and China Press, on Wednesday night (June 19), a homeless man was attacked and injured by four men on Eighth Avenue in Brooklyn.
After receiving the report, the police successfully arrested two of the suspects, but the other two suspects escaped and the police are still pursuing them.
The attack reportedly took place at 8th Avenue and 52nd Street in Brooklyn.
On the evening of the 19th, a homeless man was sleeping in a corner of an intersection. Four men passed by and attacked him. One of them even beat the homeless man with a baseball bat.
After a witness called the police, police officers quickly arrived and started a search nearby, where they found two suspicious men. After investigation, they were sure that the two men were involved in this innocent attack, so they arrested them on the spot, but the other two perpetrators escaped in the chaos.
Videos online showed that a large number of police officers arrived at the scene after the incident, and there were at least two emergency ambulances on the scene.
In recent months, many Chinese homeless people have appeared on 8th Avenue sleeping on the streets.
People living nearby pointed out that there is a church near the site of the accident. A Chinese man can often be seen sleeping on the steps of the church and often asking passers-by for money, but he has never been seen harassing pedestrians.
After the incident, the police did not disclose the identity of the homeless person who was attacked, but a Chinese woman living nearby suspected that the victim was the above-mentioned Chinese homeless person when questioned.
The Chinese woman also pointed out that there have been more homeless people on the streets of Eighth Avenue recently than before, and she has also seen Chinese people chasing homeless people. The locals do not seem to like the presence of homeless people, and she speculated that this might be the reason for the case.
