TRAIL FLOOD DAY 2024 | Sportdimontagna.com

Saturday 27 July, in La Thuile, in Valle d’Aosta, an unmissable appointment with the now consolidated event that has fascinated trail runners for years: the eighth edition of La Thuile Trail. Three beautiful and technical routes in the high mountains – 25km, Marathon 42km and Ultra 70km – develop in a highly emotional setting, in a wild nature that offers an extraordinary spectacle for the eyes and the heart, in a part of the Valdigne enclosed between the Ruitor glacier and the Mont Blanc chain. Athletes of twenty nationalities will be at the start, including around a hundred international ones, and many leading names from the trail world. Registrations are open until July 25th or when the maximum number of participants is reached.

“With almost 500 athletes registered one month before the event, we have already exceeded last year’s number of participants, a great source of pride for all those involved. If we consider that it is physiological for many runners to register on time, it is more than likely that we can think of reaching 800 participants,” comments Mattia Jacquemod, member of the organizing committee.

Here are some of the sure protagonists…

Among the women: Sarah Mc Cormack, Irish athlete (registered for the 25km), fourth place at Sierre Zinal 2022; Toni McCann (entered in the 42km) – Adidas Terrex, Suunto, Maurten and Red Bull South Africa athlete – who won the OCC at UTMB in 2023 and all the last five races she has contested including Transvulcania and Ultra Trail Cape Town.
Among the men: Ross Gollan athlete from the United Kingdom (registered for the 25km), third last year in the 25km; Michael Dola, Team Scarpa and Ethic athlete, who in 2022 took fourth place behind Blanchard, Cheraz and Borgialli in the 60k La Thuile Trail and, more recently, in June 2024 won the Trail Oasi Zegna 70km; Marco Biondi fresh from first place at Brunello Crossing (February 2024); Alessandro Macellaro (registered for the 42km) who climbed to the top step of the podium in 2023 in the 50km of the Trail Oasi Zegna; Bastien Perez, Team All Triangles – The North Face, (entered for the 25km) who recently won the 35km Ultra Trail of Cape Town.
