Training Champions: Inside the Wuchuan Sports Training Base

[Wuchuan Sports Training Base protects athletes’ dreams of winning championships]These days, at the Wuchuan Sports Training Base of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sports Venue Service Center, members of the Mongolian National Judo Team are preparing for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

On the morning of June 14, the reporter walked into the wrestling and judo hall of the base. Some judo team members were conducting actual combat training in pairs; some team members were struggling with the climbing ropes hanging on the roof to practice upper limb and core strength.

“Among the teams training at the base recently, in addition to the Mongolian national judo team, there are also judo teams from Fujian, Gansu and other places for exchange training. We are also ensuring the training of the Inner Mongolia Greco-Roman wrestling team and boxing team here.” said Lian Yahui, section chief of the Wuchuan Sports Training Base Section of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sports Venue Service Center.

Wuchuan Sports Training Base is located in Wuchuan County, north of Hohhot City, with an average altitude of 1,600 meters, which is a typical sub-alpine terrain. For scientific training, there is a certain degree of hypoxia stimulation, and the training intensity of the plain can be maintained, so that athletes can get enough intensity stimulation while avoiding the problem of motor ability degradation in traditional plateau training, and significantly improving athletes’ aerobic capacity and muscle explosiveness. In recent years, the base has received about 40,000 athletes for training each year, involving more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country and some national teams, as well as foreign training teams including Mongolia, North Korea, Ukraine, Russia, Pakistan and other countries.

“In order to provide athletes with a superior training environment and help them compete for gold and silver medals, we have purchased and updated professional training equipment and sports mats for wrestling, judo and other sports. We have also repaired and upgraded the base’s outdoor track and field fields, indoor venues, apartments and restaurants to ensure high-quality training, living, entertainment and other needs of the training teams. We will also regularly distribute questionnaires to athletes and coaches, and continuously improve the training conditions and living environment of the base based on feedback to enhance the targetedness and effectiveness of training.” Lian Yahui said.

The Mongolian national judo team is a strong team in the world judo army. This time, many world champions came to Wuchuan Sports Training Base to sprint for their Olympic dreams. “I will participate in the men’s 60kg judo event in the Paris Olympics. With the competition approaching, we must maintain high-intensity training. The oxygen content in the air here is low, and we use the hypoxia stimulation of the sub-alpine environment to increase the training load. Moreover, the environment and climate here are very similar to Mongolia. Everyone quickly adapted here.” said Ariunbold, a Mongolian athlete who once won the runner-up in the Judo World Championships.

The high-quality training service guarantee and training environment attract high-level sports teams to train here, which also provides valuable communication and improvement opportunities for athletes from various professional teams in Inner Mongolia. Du Renhexige, head coach of the Inner Mongolia Men’s Judo Team, said: “Taking advantage of the period of training of the Mongolian national team, all members of the Inner Mongolia Judo Team are also here to communicate and conduct actual combat training with them. For the outstanding athletes in the team, many members of the Mongolian national team are very familiar opponents to them. We have participated in fewer international competitions this year, which is a good opportunity for them to strengthen their technical movements. For young players, the opportunity to see top athletes training in person is even more valuable. This year we have to strive for qualification for the 2025 National Games, and I believe these top athletes will be an inspiration to them.” (Inner Mongolia Daily) #Northern Xinjiang Athletics 70 Years##Win Glory for Inner Mongolia#
