Triple farewell in Avilés: Del Pino, Del Amo and Orfila say goodbye

Farewell day yesterday at Avilés. The blue and white club announced that three of the players who were part of last season’s squad will not be part of the upcoming season’s squad. They are Pedro Orfila, Joel del Pino and Jesús del Amo, who are not part of Miguel Linares’ plans for the next campaign and will not have a renewal offer to continue at the Román Suárez Puerta.

Pedro Orfila thus ends his time at Avilés after two seasons defending the blue and white colors. The Luanquín landed in 2022/23 with the help of Emilio Cañedo at the club, and, although he did not have many minutes, he was a key piece in the locker room. In the recently completed campaign, until Zubiri’s arrival, he had more prominence. In the end there have been 41 league games defending the Aviles shirt.

Joel del Pino and Jesús del Amo will not continue playing for Suárez Puerta next year either. The first of them arrived on loan from Las Palmas, but, despite his reputation, his performance was far from what was expected. Of course, the Canarian was key in the match for salvation against Manchengo. For his part, Jesús del Amo had more participation during the year, both playing as a center back and as a left back, but in the end he will not continue with the club.

In this way, Avilés continues to outline its project for the next campaign. The club hopes that the unfortunate course that has just concluded serves as an incentive for the team to fight, this time, for a promotion to the First Federation that the Avilesinos brushed with the tips of their fingers in 2023, when the Granada subsidiary broke the dream of the blue and white team winning at Suárez Puerta in the final tie for promotion.

To achieve the long-awaited goal of moving up to the third category of national football, Avilés has renewed its sports structure. The club’s new sports director will be Miguel Linares, accompanied, from the technical secretary, by Antonio Cruz. Both share a common past, working side by side in Linares during two different stages.

On the bench, the leader will be Javi Rozada. After securing salvation against Manchego, the man from Oviedo, the third coach who passed through Suárez Puerta last year, has urged the board to address the renewal of Edu Cortina, a key player in his plans. Meanwhile, the blue and white renewed veteran Natalio for one more season.
