Starting the second quarter with consecutive points scored by Gerevaglia, Italy increased the difference to 15 points (36-21) at one point. The national team increased their tempo and managed to take a 41-40 lead in the 39th minute with an 11-0 run and went to the locker room with a 43-42 advantage.
The national team, which put its emphasis on the game with the support of its fans against Italy, took the lead (55-51) in the 25th minute with points from Mathis, Hassan and Gerevaglia, and entered the last quarter ahead 61-60.
Increasing the difference to 7 points (69-76) with three minutes left with a 5-point series in the last quarter, the national team left the court with a 79-74 victory, achieving their first victory in the group.
The national team will face Argentina on Tuesday, July 2 in their last match in the group.
