Turkish Goalkeeper Dogan Alemdar Out of Euro 2024 Due to Knee Injury, Muhammed Şengezer Called Up as Replacement

The goalkeeper of the Turkish team Dogan Alemdar suffers a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, as confirmed by medical tests this Monday, and is out of the Euro 2024, which is why Vincenzo Montella, his coach, has called up Muhammed Şengezer to replace it.

After suffering a “knee trauma” during the preparatory session on Sunday night, the Troyes goalkeeper underwent various tests this Monday, which confirmed the diagnosis, according to the Turkish Football Federation.

“It was decided that our national goalkeeper would leave camp to move on to the next stage of his treatment. Muhammed Sengezer, from Başakşehir, was called to the national team training camp,” the organization added.

Dogan Alemdar, 21 years old and a substitute in the first two games of Euro 2024, has been international twice for Turkey (of the eight he has been called up), while Sengezer, 27 years old, has been called up three times for the national team, but he has never played. The last one was last March.
