National Men’s Basketball Team defeated the Philippines 84-73 in the friendly match.
The crescent-star team started the match played at Beşiktaş Akatlar Culture and Sports Complex with the top 5 of Doğuş Özdemiroğlu, Kenan Sipahi, Tarık Biberovic, Ercan Osmani and Sertaç Şanlı.
Türkiye, effective from behind the 3-point line against the Philippines who were scoring under the basket, finished the first period ahead 24-21.
In the second quarter, both teams scored mutual baskets. Despite making many player changes and not being able to perform as desired, especially in defense, the national team maintained its leading score and went to the locker room ahead 42-40.
Türkiye widened the gap with consecutive baskets from outside shots in the third period and entered the final quarter with a 64-56 lead.
The Crescent-Star team maintained its superiority in the fourth and final quarter and won the match 84-73.
Tarık Biberovic in the national team became the top scorer of the match with 23 points. For the crescent-star team, Can Korkmaz scored 12 points, and Sertaç Şanlı and Kenan Sipahi scored 9 points each.
Erkan Yılmaz, Can Korkmaz, Sadık Emir Kabaca, Ömer Can İlyasoğlu, Furkan Haltalı, Muhsin Yaşar, Göktuğ Baş and Okben Ulubay also served in the fight.
Can Korkmaz and Göktuğ Baş wore the National Team jersey for the first time.
The match was also watched by the Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak. Minister Bak followed the match from the sidelines with the President of the Turkish Basketball Federation Hidayet Türkoğlu.
The Turkish National Team will also face France, Serbia and the Netherlands until July 7 as part of preparations for the 2025 European Championship Qualifiers.
