BarcelonaTwo girls aged between 8 and 10 were injured yesterday afternoon, after an iron gate fell on them in the Jardins Rector Oliveres, in Dreta de l’Eixample in Barcelona. Sources from the Barcelona council confirm that the two minors were taken to hospital, one in a serious condition and the other less serious.
According to Europa Press, the girls were playing in the gardens located between the streets of Valencia, Aragó, Roger de Llúria and Bruc by climbing on the door, but it was not properly fixed to the structure, it gave way and fell. When the door fell off one of the girls – seriously injured – broke her pelvis and suffered a cranioencephalic trauma and is currently admitted to Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona.
Barcelona City Council explains that today an assessment is being made at the site of the accident and that “municipal teams have initiated an information file with all the documentation of the events and which will include the history of maintenance and evaluation”.
