UEFA Suspends Albanian Footballer for Chanting Nationalist Slogans: Fines Federation and Croatian Fans

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on Sunday suspended the Albanian national team player Mirlinda Dak for two matches for chanting nationalist slogans, reports the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF).

Daku, who on Wednesday in Hamburg after Albania’s draw (2:2) with Croatia, used a megaphone and joined in chanting slogans against Serbia and North Macedonia.

The FSHF reports that UEFA has fined the federation €47,250 for incidents at the match where Albanian fans joined Croatian fans in chanting anti-Serb slogans.

The Football Association of Serbia (FSS) announced that its team will leave the tournament if UEFA does not punish the incidents that took place in the Albania-Croatia match.

It has already been reported that UEFA also fined the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) for the disturbances caused by Croatian fans in this game.

A fine of 28,000 euros was awarded for the Croats lighting smoke rockets and throwing objects on the field in Hamburg on June 19.

After two rounds of matches, Spain is in first place in Group B with six points, Italy has three points, and Albania and Croatia have one point each.

In the last round of the subgroup, Croatians will play against Italy on Monday, while Albania will play against Spain.

The European Championship will take place from June 14 to July 14 in ten German cities.
