The French U20 XV are putting their title back on the line. World champions in the last three editions, the Bleuets are launching their race for a fourth crown this Saturday, against Spain, in Cape Town. They will then follow up with duels against New Zealand and Wales, still in South Africa, where the competition is being held.
For this new World Cup, the coach, Sébastien Calvet, has decided to bet on 10 world champions and a few sure values from the Top 14. This is notably the case of the Stade Toulousain third row Mathis Castro-Ferreira, who has revealed himself this season, or the fly-half Hugo Reus, who has been playing in the Stade Rochelais flagship team for two seasons now.
Placed in Group A, the French will face Spain on Saturday, June 29 at 2 p.m., New Zealand on Thursday, July 4 at 4:30 p.m. and Wales on Tuesday, July 9 at 4:30 p.m. These three matches will be broadcast on La Chaîne L’Équipe.
