Unity in Action: The Fourth Edition of ‘Travesía Caleta-Caleta’ Supports Multiple Sclerosis Awareness

The Teguise City Council, together with the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium, collaborates in carrying out the fourth edition of ‘Travesía Caleta-Caleta’, a swimming test that consists of traveling the 15 kilometers that separate Caleta de Sebo from Caleta de Famara to support and make visible the disease of multiple sclerosis.

Mayor Olivia Duque explains the relevance of this test to “establish symbolic bridges between Lanzarote and La Graciosa, thus demonstrating the unity of the community in the fight and visibility of this pathology.” Likewise, the mayor points out that one of the objectives of this sporting event is for it to be recognized within the open water competitions of the Canary Islands.

For her part, the Councilor for Tourism and Beaches, Rita Hernández, points out that this solidarity event positions Teguise as a municipality that is empathetic towards those who suffer from multiple sclerosis, but that it is also an opportunity to “demonstrate that we are a high-level sports showcase.” “.

The event will be held next Saturday, June 29, at 9:00 am, in La Graciosa and it is estimated that participants will be able to reach the shore in five or six hours, depending on sea conditions. The funds raised will go to the Lanzarote Association for Assistance to Multiple Sclerosis (AlanEM).
