Veolia Towers Hamburg Part Ways with Lukas Meisner After Three Years

The Veolia Towers Hamburg are planning their future in the Basketball Bundesliga without four-time national player Lukas Meisner. As the club from Wilhelmsmburg announced, the 28-year-old’s contract, which was valid until 2025, has been terminated early.

The winger, who made a total of 155 competitive appearances during his time at the Elbe, no longer played a role in coach Benka Barloschky’s plans for the upcoming season.

Lukas Meisner played for the Towers for three years

“He has always put himself at the service of the team. However, in our recent collaboration we have not been able to push forward the development as both sides had hoped,” said Sporting Director Marvin Willoughby: “We have therefore decided to take the step of terminating the contract prematurely at this point.”

Meisner himself sums up his time on the Elbe and is grateful. “Although the farewell is coming sooner than I personally would have liked, I still look back on the three years here in Hamburg positively. The city has become my home. I am grateful for the countless experiences I have had – on the sporting level, but above all off the field.” (sid/bv)
