VfL Bochum Pursuing Dani de Wit for Free Transfer: Serie A Interest as Well

VfL Bochum hopes to add Dani de Wit to the selection, according to German Kicker. The 26-year-old midfielder is out of contract with AZ on Sunday, June 30, which means he can be picked up on a free transfer. De Wit is also attracting interest from several clubs in Serie A.

At Bochum, De Wit can enter his first foreign employment contract. The attacking midfielder can also opt for an Italian adventure at US Lecce. According to German reports, that step is more attractive financially.

In an interview with Voetbal International, De Wit already indicated at the end of April that he was open to a foreign adventure. “If there is a nice challenge in a top competition in the summer, I will go for it. But if that does not happen, then I feel very good at AZ.”

The ambitious De Wit rejected several contract proposals from AZ, which is why the Alkmaar team accepted his transfer-free departure.

The number four of the last Eredivisie season paid 2 million euros in 2019 to pry De Wit from Ajax. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at around 5 million euros.

De Wit has played no fewer than 188 official matches on behalf of AZ in recent years. The right foot was good for 46 goals and 21 assists. Last season, De Wit scored ten Eredivisie goals.
