A busy and successful sporting season, without any defeat, for our young players who had an appointment this June 9 to compete in the Armagnac-Bigorre final in Mirande against the Fleurance team.
The team: Basile, Selim, Enzo, Robin, Milo, Victor, Ismaël, Salim, Axel and Baptiste evolved and grew up within the Barbazan B Debat Club Basket basketball school, with Sandrine and Arnaud. Then Orlane, supported by her brother Erwan, took over with all the passion for basketball that we know from her. After the presentation of the teams, the players took their places on the field, with a certain timidity felt in both camps.
Progress of the match.
1st half: The Fleurance team quickly enters the game and scores quickly. The Bbcb defense is having difficulty getting into position. Our players come to their senses a little and start playing basketball. Trailing 3 to 8 at 5 minutes of play, they won the first quarter 10 points to 8. The recovery was very timid on both sides. Fleurance’s attack is in place and destabilizes our players, who are struggling a little in defense. A little 3-point success liberates the Bbcb, but the score remains as tight as ever: 26 to 24 for the Bbcb at half-time.
2nd half: the locker room break woke the team up! We feel more desire in attack, better defense. We cause fouls, we recover offensive and defensive rebounds. The tension is palpable on the pitch, but also in the stands. On one side or the other, we lose balls, we are clumsy when shooting! The Bbcb supporters, parents and seniors who came in large numbers, made their voices heard in the last five minutes of play, and our U13s surpassed themselves to give us an end to the match worthy of their season. They ended up winning 44 to 39.
Congratulations to coach Orlane for his patience, his work and his dedication with this great team. Our young players fully deserve this victory, which ends a great season. We don’t forget Railey, who was unable to physically attend this meeting, but who supported his teammates in spirit.
