VIDEO ⟩ Usik is no longer the absolute champion in boxing

On May 19, Usyk became the absolute champion of super heavyweight boxing, defeating Tyson Fury on points (115:112, 114:113, 113:114). It was the British star’s first career loss.

After the victory, Usyk took possession of the championship belt previously owned by Fury in the version of the World Boxing Council (WBC), and also retained his titles in the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Organization (WBO), as well as less prestigious in the International Boxing Organization (IBO).

On December 21, 2024, Fury will have the opportunity to take revenge and regain the WBC belt, but he will not be able to become the absolute champion, because Usyk will transfer the IBF title to the winner of the fight between Joshua and Dubois on September 21.

“Anthony and Daniel, listen up. I know the IBF title is extremely important to you. This is my gift to you on September 21,” Usyk said in a video posted on Instagram.

IBF rules require Usyk to defend said belt against mandatory title challenger DuBois before the second duel against Fury. Since this is not practically possible, the Ukrainian has chosen to give up the title.

In 2021 and 2022, Usyk defeated Joshua twice on points, and in 2023 he knocked out Dubois.
