The Vietnam U-16 national team successfully qualified for the semifinals of the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup after defeating Myanmar on the third matchday of Group B, Friday (28/6).
This certainty was obtained after Vietnam U-16 successfully defeated Myanmar with a landslide score of 5-1 at the Manahan Stadium, Solo.
Having struggled, Vietnam was able to prove themselves as the favorite team by scoring a 2-1 lead in the first half.
Vietnam’s dominance continued in the second half. Vietnam, who were increasingly confident, managed to score three more goals to secure a 5-1 victory.
This result led Vietnam to finish as winners of Group B with seven points from three matches. Vietnam has the right to occupy the top position because of its superior goal difference over Cambodia.
Cambodia has the right to occupy the runner up position with seven points. Cambodia also successfully achieved a 5-0 victory over the Brunei team.
Thus, Vietnam became the second team to secure a place in the semifinals after Indonesia. The Garuda Asia squad also recorded a perfect record, namely nine points from three matches in Group A.
Even so, Vietnam and Indonesia will certainly not face each other in the semifinals. The two are on different charts and could potentially clash in the final.
