Coach Vietnam U-16 Tran Minh Chien said he was satisfied with the 15-0 landslide victory over Brunei Darussalam on the first matchday of Group B of the 2024 AFF U-16 Cup at Sriwedari Stadium, Solo, Saturday (22/6).
Minh Chien did not deny that Brunei was too weak for his team. However, he was happy because his team continued to play normally and did not underestimate the opposing team.
“This is the match score that the Vietnam U-16 coaching staff wants. It could be said that Brunei is too weak compared to Vietnam U-16,” he said as quoted by Bongda24h.
“I am happy that the players are not injured. The whole team respects and does not underestimate the opponent. I am satisfied with the way the players play.”
In this match, Vietnam was able to lead 6-0 over Brunei in the first half. Entering the second half, Tran Tranh Binh and friends were able to add nine more goals against Brunei to close the match with a score of 15-0.
Two Vietnamese players, namely Nguyen Viet Long and Tranh Binh, managed to score hat-trick to the goal of Brunei.
This result makes Vietnam occupy the top of Group B. Tran Minh Chien’s team is at the top with a collection of three points and a surplus of 15 goals.
Vietnam is above Cambodia which occupies second place. Cambodia won three points after beating Myanmar with a score of 2-1.
