Bayern’s new coach Kompany is relying in part on people he has already worked with. On Friday, the Munich team announced that the coaching team for the coming season was complete. Kompany will be supported by the three assistant coaches Aaron Danks (39), René Maric (31) and Floribert N’Galula (37). The coaching company is completed by Bram Geers (31) as athletic trainer and Rodyse Munienge as assistant in the organizational area.

Danks has worked under Gerrard and Emery
Danks and Kompany know each other from their time together at RSC Anderlecht, where the Englishman had already assisted the Belgian – it was his first position in professional football after stints in the English youth sector. Danks now has far more experience as an assistant coach, having been part of the staff at Aston Villa under Steven Gerrard, Dean Smith and Unai Emery and most recently working as an assistant at Middlesbrough FC.
Double role for Maric
René Maric will be new to Kompany. The 31-year-old Austrian joined the record champions last autumn as team leader for coach development and game ideas, after previously gaining experience as an assistant at Leeds United, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and in the youth sector in Salzburg.
In the second half of the season, he was also the coach of the U19s, a position he is now handing over to the previous U17 coach, Peter Gaydarov. In addition to his role as Kompany’s assistant coach, Maric will also continue to work in his previous position for the FC Bayern Campus and will therefore continue to act as a link between the professional players and the youth teams.
N’Galula has also been an assistant under Kompany – that was the case at Burnley FC in 2022/23. Meanwhile, athletic trainer Geers and Munienge were part of Kompany’s staff at both Burnley and RSC Anderlecht.
On July 15, FC Bayern will begin preparations for the new season, when the first players will undergo a medical examination and performance diagnostics. Training will begin two days later, but the team will not be complete at this point due to the players being called up for the European Championship and the Copa America.
