Center Vincent Poirier has withdrawn from the Olympic Games after injuring his ankle in training, the French Basketball Federation said on Saturday, June 29.

“Exams taken on Saturday confirmed the need for a stoppage of a duration incompatible with the resumption of preparation and participation in the Olympic Games,” said the FFBB in its press release.

Not replaced in the group

The Real Madrid player (2.13 m, 30 years old), who signed to play for Efes Istanbul next season, will not be replaced in the French squad, now 16 players, who are preparing for the Olympics. This group will be reduced to 12 men for the Games by coach Vincent Collet.
